1. The app
Tangerine turns every file drag into a converter. Drag a file, tap a key, drop. 275 conversion options, 26 file tools and 6 file actions, all running locally on your Mac. Nothing gets uploaded.
Works on Apple silicon Macs running macOS 13 or later.
2. The key cheat sheet
Start dragging any file, then tap one key. The wheel stays open until you drop.
⇧ Shift = Convert. Pick the format you need: PNG, JPG, MP4, PDF, DOCX and more.
⌘ Command = File tools. Compress, crop, trim, split, merge, redact, edit metadata.
⌃ Control = File actions. AirDrop, Float, Copy, Move, Copy Path, open in Terminal. Works on folders too, and does not use your conversion allowance.
No drag? Select a file and press Enter to open the format menu. Arrow keys to choose, Enter to apply, Escape to cancel.
You can remap the keys in Settings.
3. Six conversions to try first
iPhone photos: HEIC to JPG so they open anywhere.
Client PDFs: PDF to DOCX when you need to edit what they sent.
Screen recordings: MOV to MP4, or straight to GIF for docs and Slack.
Decks: PPTX to PDF before you send, or PDF to PPTX when you need to edit.
Web images: PNG to WebP or AVIF for lighter pages.
Video to audio: any video to MP3 for podcasts and voice notes.
