STEP 1: INSTALL FREE CLAUDE CODE

Mac / Linux:

Windows PowerShell:

During installation, select Claude Code as one of your coding agents.

STEP 2: OPEN FREE CLAUDE CODE

Mac:
Open Free Claude Code from Applications.

Windows:
Open Free Claude Code from your Start menu.

Linux:
Run:

fcc-server

This opens the FCC interface where you can configure your AI provider.

STEP 3: CONNECT A FREE PROVIDER

The project recommends NVIDIA NIM as one of the easiest options to start with.

Create an NVIDIA NIM API key.

Then go to:

Admin → NVIDIA_NIM_API_KEY → Paste your key → Apply

You can also use providers such as OpenRouter, Groq, Gemini, Cerebras, GitHub Models and others.

STEP 4: LAUNCH CLAUDE CODE

Run:

fcc-claude

Claude Code will now launch using the model you configured through Free Claude Code.

To switch models inside Claude Code, type:

/model

That’s it.

Your setup is basically:

Claude Code → Free Claude Code → Your chosen AI provider

You keep the Claude Code workflow while using models from other providers instead of consuming Anthropic API credits.

Free limits depend on each provider and may change over time.
